Women’s Addiction Recovery Retreat Founder Ty Goodrich LunAfter graduating from the Hazelden School of Addiction Studies and working in a residential alcohol treatment center, Ty Goodrich-Lun, founder of the Open Door Retreat, became convinced that what women needed to continue their recovery, was a safe and nurturing environment.

The reason? Real, long term recovery requires serious internal work to the self. And while a traditional treatment center provides many of the foundational knowledge for achieving a life of sobriety, these environments don’t always give individuals the time, peace, and tranquility to truly delve into their center and find the peace of sobriety within themselves.

For this reason, Ty created the Open Door Retreat women’s addiction recovery retreat, which is more of a place for women to find and explore their own inner purpose rather than a place where addiction is the primary topic. “We assume that the women here already understand the fundamentals of addiction recovery and now only need the time and space to practice what they have learned,” says Ty.

Schedules here are largely based on each woman’s individual needs. Ty goes out of her way to find specialists, activities, and events that help each woman to find her center and solidify her reasons for sobriety during their visit to her tranquil San Miguel de Allende casita.

Along with customized activities and action plan are a base menu of activities that include

  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Therapy Sessions
  • A.A. Meetings
  • Guided Group Talk
  • Nature Walks
  • Daily Journaling

“The Open Door Retreat is a place for those who need to strengthen their focus of sobriety,” says Ty. “For some that time is directly following treatment and for many others, that time is years after treatment when they feel they may be starting to slip back into old patterns of addictive thinking,”
