Have You Lost Yourself Somewhere Along the Way?

In such a hectic world where we as women are often constantly caring for others, it is very easy to lose touch with our true selves.
Warning signs that you may have lost touch with your true self:
- You do not know how you would spend each day of your life if you no longer had to work and money was no issue.
- You do not have a list of short term and long term life goals that you are actively working toward
- You have given up a hobby or a dream that you were once passionate about
- You cannot think of 3 good reasons why the world is a better place with you in it.
When we lose ourselves, we no longer feel that we have a divine purpose in life. Instead, we just go through the motions of every day life, feeling more and more unfulfilled as time passes.
This is a dangerous place for the recovering addict.
Here are three things you can do to rekindle that relationship with your own unique self and begin to find the joy in life once again:
- Take a week off and spend it somewhere other than your everyday environment: If you truly wish to find the “you” that is hidden deep within, you must provide a quiet place to listen to your inner self and the time for her to emerge.
- Create a list of short term and long term life goals: Sometimes the act of setting goals can help you connect with your true self.
- Develop a plan of action to create those goals: Developing a goal plan and taking steps to get there forces your true self to emerge and become active.
Without a clear sense of ourselves and a purpose for living each day, it can be easy to slip back into drug and alcohol addiction. If you need help rediscovering your true self and think you may be slipping into relapse, contact us – we are here to help.
