My friend has a saying: “It’s hard to see the picture when you are in it.” I think of a Monet painting, where the big image itself is composed of many, seemingly unrelated splotches when you are up close. But take a few steps back and the entire picture comes into clear focus.

Examining our lives works the same way. From inside of our daily lives, it is difficult to see how all of the individual elements of our environment are affecting the big picture. Within each of those little “splotches” of our lives, there are things that we can alter to create the big picture life that we desire. But how to see the big picture when you are in it?

This is exactly why we positioned the Open Door Retreat in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, a place far (but not too far) away from where most of our visitors are living inside their day to day lives. This is also the reason why our retreats last from 1-4 weeks. It takes time and distance to begin seeing your life from a new perspective so that you may learn how to change it.

If you’ve been living a life that is just not working for you, this is not entirely your fault. How on earth can you truly examine your life when you are constantly in the middle of it without any perspective?

When you are truly read to reveal the problems behind the addiction you are in recovery from, consider a recovery adventure at the Open Door Retreat women’s addiction recovery retreat. Our customizable retreats are designed specifically for every single woman – so that you may discover exactly what you need to make your life in recovery joyful and fulfilling.
